Sri

This is interesting. May 26th 2005. Last minute entry in the Youth Hostel Trekking group. Faded Jeans, t-shirt and jacket, a cowboy hat and a rucksack, 5’10-11 feet tall, stern face, typical jungle boy look, like a professional hunter, B. Srinivasan, an Engineer with Engineers India Limited. The stern face was soon replaced by a colgate smile. The kids in the group started calling him chicken uncle (oops sorry Sri I made it public) not an uncle by any means though…a young macho guy with a golden heart and great smile. That’s all I could know about him in the 11 days of trekking trip that we went for. A savior for the trekkers, the group was certain that the trek would not have been minus any mishap if he and the two other Ss of the S cube (Shashant and Sumit) weren’t there. After having raised the slogan for chicken throughout the vegetarian trip he treated the entire group to a grand chicken feast in Manali at the end of our trek. Sri works somewhere in Gujarat I would get to meet him if I go for the Goa trek in December…otherwise I dunno when…but will always be glad I got to know him.

Snigdha

kuch log pyar se inhe lappu kehte hai…oops am sorry…kehte the, school mein…abhi to lappu is as smart as she can be. Again an outgoing, daring, intelligent, artistic, creative Aquarian. She already has given her introduction in words much more meaningful yet simple than I could have ever used for her. 15-16 years of friendship, we (kreeti, me and snigdha we r school buddies) have actually grown over each other. We have become who we are together. Somewhere in our making we all have role to play. After all that you really don’t find words to write testimonials for such friends. Again a very enthusiastic person, having one step ahead in taking initiative, she is one person who keeps the show going on, whether its our school friend’s mailing list or this present list. She is into Real Estate, again not sure bout her position. Whenever I have to talk about Snigdha I cant help mentioning this one incident…once she cracked this poor sardar joke, to which none (understandably) laughed, seeing the silence she actually ordered us to laugh and we all burst out into laughter. She still thinks we laughed at her joke

Shomil

Have known him for just a little longer than a month or two. I have a habit of adding those DBM members, who have a yahoo ID to my messenger list. Shomil joined the group and I added him to my list. One day of chatting and I knew we were friends. (There’s something about our sunsigns, Aquarians r bound to be great friends with Librans) An IITian and an MBA…need not say more…do I Mr. Gates? His favorite pastime seems to be pulling my legs, as long as I am available, actually anybody’s legs for that matter. A spendthrift, who spends in useful things before he is forced by his nature to spend in useless stuffs. Shomil is quite witty, talks very fast, holds strong opinion about certain things but doesn’t makes them obvious easily. Its like he’d express his opinion only when it’s a matter in issue. I mean that’s how I have seen it so far, of course it’s a very short period of aquaintance to really know a person. We have met only once, but call often.

Kreeti

A durga puja is generally of 4-5 days. When we were in standard 11th, school reopened after one such puja holidays, kreeti comes and tells us “guess what? 23 guys proposed me during this puja”. Well, we didn’t validate her statement by evidence but that wasn’t required, one can take her word on such a statement, given her sexy looks and of course, she had no qualms about saying out loud that it was flattering. A dare devil Aquarian like me, smart, intelligent, creative. This friend-ship with Kreeti has been sailing for some 16-17 years now and we sure would be friends till we join the majority of human kind. Her workplace is Bharti, some kinda hi fi stuff not sure about the position she holds as it has been mostly immaterial amongst us

Yogesh

We first met in a Delhi Blogger’s Meet (July 2005), he was like the last person I would be taking interest in any gathering, because I didn’t hear him speak, all he had was smile of being amused by the funny creatures around him, we didn’t even exchanged hello… Haven’t been able to know him much coz he is always too busy to meet up and I don’t use yahoo messenger anymore, but this is what I could gather. An Arian by birth, an economist by profession, a man who gets as complicated as he can be once as he starts conversing, talks a lot with the right person. There would probably be only a few things he really really likes but he would be a part of almost any and everything. His friends can drag him into their kind of fun, which might not be his kind of fun, but he wont be a spoil sport. I don’t think you would easily hear a NO from him

Ankur

A Gemini, software engineer by profession, a dedicated blogger. Delhi Blog Meet happens to be our meeting ground although we havn’e met in real. Our friendship started in June 2005, when he left a silly comment on my blog and I caught him on yahoo messenger to seek a clarification. We have been chatting almost everyday since then and he has been a patient listener to all my whining crying and yelling and a strong support and motivator on all those days when I had my mood swings. A very honest and straight forward guy, speaks his heart out on most issues, I don’t think he can ever be diplomatic, very enthusiastic (which he has already proved to u all by creating the data base for hotels) started a community blog for the Delhi Bloggers, is always ready to join anything new and intereting.

Quotations

Travel only with thy equals or thy betters; if there are none, travel alone -
Dhammpada

What you've done becomes the judge of what you're going to do -- especially in other people's minds. When you're traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don't have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road.

The Beggining

This not so insignificant group was created by me on a sudden impulse. I uploaded it on Yahoo Groups the day prior to my shifting house, everything in my room was uprooted expect my PC. I knew once I shift I won’t have connection for a long time and the start of the group would be delayed. Understandably I started the group but couldn’t serve the real purpose which I would be religiously doing hence forth and with all my member's support make sure it becomes a significant group.

To begin with I am really thankful to some of the members for having joining the group. To name them Shomil, Sundeep and Yogesh. The rest of the members I don’t have to thank, becoz in the path of friendship we have way passed those stages of formal ‘sorry’ and ‘thankyou’

Now coming to the main point why the group? Shomil has already asked this question and I have given a diplomatic answer…read the introducing write up in the groups home page…which is travel. Well that’s the main idea but its also is about me and my friends. You see I have a serious problem of ASS (Attention Seeking Syndrome…what dirty thought came in your mind? :-D ) I am always inventing ways to seek more and more attention…why?…simple. Coz I don’t have much of it and I just can't have enough…after having been a part of two yahoo groups where not many people gave me due attention :-( I decided to move away and start my own group. Besides, I also tend to justify my name. Sanjukta, a Sanskrit name which is actually pronounced as Sanyukta where ‘n’ is silent except for a nazal touch before ‘y’, meaning ‘the one who unites’. So, through this group I intend to make one single circle of all my friend's joining hand so that you all get to know each other. But more than me and my friends it is a place for like minded people who prefers to laugh rather than smile, dance rather than sing, fight rather than survive. I believe we all intend to make more friends having similar minds. But this is not a virtual circle of friends. We’d be doing real life interactions here like travel, trek, adventour sports, meets, discs, movies, theater, exhibitions, shopping, nature photography etc. Most of the members so far are from delhi so Meets won't be a problem as and when the activity increases the outstation members can join the group somwhere on the way.

I started the thread but realized self introduction won't work so what I am gonna do is write testimony for each members (be rest assured sensitive issues like age and marital status not being touched upon)
